NPF Ready for 2011 Polls
The Inspector General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo said yesterday that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has planned to deploy enough personnel to ensure adequate security during the 2011 general elections.
Mr. Onovo stated this when Attahiru Jega, Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission paid him a courtesy visit at the force headquarters in Abuja.
He said the Police are well equipped to ensure the protection of lives and properties all through the exercise and would provide security from the period of voter registration to the election proper. “We did it in Anambra and we are ready to replicate same in the coming general elections nationwide,” Mr. Onovo said.
Earlier, Mr. Jega had pleaded with the police to provide adequate security during the 2011 general elections.
