Oyinlola declares interest in Osun senatorial ticket
Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has laid to rest speculations about his next political moves after the expiration of his tenure next year, as he has declares his ambition to go to the senate.
The governor, at a rally witnessed by bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), top political functionaries and people from all walks of life on Wednesday, at Okuku, his hometown, formally declared his intention to vie for the senatorial ticket of Osun Central on the platform of the PDP.
Oyinlola said his intention to go to the Senate was to fulfill his earlier desire to represent his people at the National Assembly, before he was drafted into the governorship race in 2003.
According to him, given his experience and his connection nationwide, he had no doubt that he would give the people of the senatorial district responsive and responsible representation at the Senate, if elected.
He thanked party leaders, traditional rulers and others whom he said God had used to bring him to politics and to ensure the success of his administration so far.
The governor allayed fears of partiality in the selection of candidates by the PDP for elective posts, adding that the party would provide a level playing field for all.
He urged party members to support those the party would field for elections, stressing that no matter the ambition of an individual and efforts he put in to realising it, only God could make such a dream come true.
