EFCC Still Interrogating Erastus Akingbola
THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared that it has not concluded the interrogation of the former vice chairman and chief executive officer of the Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erasmus Akingbola.
The commission’s head of media, Mr. Femi Babafemi, told Saturday Tribune on Friday that Akingbola would have to remain detained until his interrogation was concluded by operatives of the EFCC.
He has spent three nights at the commission, having surrendered himself to the EFCC on Wednesday morning. He is being detained for allegedly mismanaging N346 billion belonging to the bank.
Akingbola came back into the country through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, almost one year after he left the country hours after he was sacked by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) alongside four other managing directors of the five banks rescued by the apex bank on August 14, 2009.
